Genesis 3:22 - God says "us", meaning God, Jesus, & the Holy Spirit. This is also the beginning of humans knowing the difference between good & evil. There is so much going on in the first chapters of Genesis. Time is not as we know it. How many children did Adam & Even have? When did it become not acceptable to marry kin? It had to ahppen after the first "sin". But acording to my chronological Bible, Eve didn't have children until after they sinned. So, it seems as if they intermarried for some period of time.

Genesis 5:23 - Wouldn't it be great if God just "took" us to heaven, like Enoch. I would love to sit and hear Enoch talk. Wouldn't you?

Genesis 6 - It's hard to believe that God hated all the people and their sin so much that he felt compelled to wipe out the whole earth except for Noah and his family. I would like to be like Noah and "find favor with God". Can you imagine what your neighbors would say if you started building a boat in your yard as big as the Ark? But we are told that Noah did everything exactly as God commanded him.

I am very behind in posting to my blog. I was real busy last week and didn't take time to jot down my thoughts. Back to my Genesis accounts. Genesis 1:20-23 - And on the fifth day, God created fish, sea creatures, and birds. And they, too, produced offspring of the same types. Genesis 2:8 - God planted a garden. How great is that? He was a farmer before the word was invented. Shows us we should do the same. Genesis 1:20 - God said "Let the sky be filled with birds." In Genesis 2:19, God formed 'from the ground' all the wild animals and all the birds of the sky. Were these all the same, or different birds. Seemed to skip a little here. Genesis 3:8 - God walked in his garden. Won't it be great when we can walk side-by-side with him in his garden!!

Just a note - After Adam and Eve sinned in the garden, God even made their clothes. I just love everything I notice the more I read in the Bible.

A few random thoughts. I was watching a Dr. Charles Stanley program the other night on TV. He said several things that spoke to me. First, God will use us in proportion to our willingness to be shaped like Christ. And, don't ever underestimate the impact of your life on others. I'm really bad at the last one. I always have a hard time thinking I am positively impacting others lives. And, lastly, the story of Joseph. I've either heard or read about Joseph three times in the last couple of weeks. There has to be a message there that God is trying to tell me. I just haven't got it yet.

I worked at church today and had a very enjoyable chat with Phil. Certainly uplifting. I will be helping out again tomorrow.

It's been an interesting day and a half. Yesterday my brother-in-law and his girlfriend came through on their way back to Dayton. They stayed overnight and left this morning. Let me tell all of you who read this blog that I really need prayer. I have a very hard time accepting her. So I bit my tongue. But what I need more is to change my heart. I know I don't have to like her, but God says I do have to love her. Give me love, Lord.

This past year, I made a resolution to read through the Bible in a year. I completed that resolution. So this year, I made a resolution to read through the Bible chronologically in a year. I have also been jotting down thoughts as I go. I will post these here. I am using the New Living Translation for my reading.

First, Genesis 1:2: "The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters." So, when God initially created heaven and earth, water covered the whole earth, like after the flood.

Genesis 1:9-13: Now on the third day, God made "land" and "seas". Then vegetation. But the Bible says that the "seed-bearing" vegetation will product plants and trees, and that happened. So, this shows us that God's day isn't a "24-hour" day that we observe. Plants and vegetation take time to grow. So what is the length of a "God day"? I know it says that a day is like a thousand years. Where would we be now?

I've finally started a blog. I hope to put my ramblings on it about what's happening with me and what my thoughts are when reading books and my Bible. We'll see how this works out. I hope you visit often.
